Since 2023, the FiA has been strengthening its national fisheries statistics system, through the adoption of digital tools, funded by the European Union. Initially, the FiA used Kobo Toolbox-based digital forms, developed with technical assistance from FAO, to standardize reporting of freshwater and marine capture fisheries, aquaculture, data on fish processing and fishery crimes, from all 25 FiA Cantonments.
To address challenges such as data quality, consistency, and a desire for more comprehensive data, FishStat was developed, as a new fully integrated data submission and reporting system, with technical assistance from the FAO CAPFISH-Capture project.
FishStat is the official digital platform for Cambodian fisheries statistical data submission and reporting under the Fisheries Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. It was developed with technical assistance under the EU CAPFISH Programme. It is designed to streamline data reporting by provincial fisheries officers and preparation of national statistics. The system has secure login access for fishery officers at FiA, Inspectorates and FiAC.
The system includes statistical data submission forms for weekly, monthly and annual data, a statistical dashboard and reporting tools. It ensures timely access to statistical information—supporting evidence-based decision-making and sustainable fisheries management across Cambodia.
